Summer Thursday Notes

July 16, 2008

Dear Families,

Our summer seems to be fast disappearing! Next week those of you who are staying with us will receive your calendar for the school year and supply list. Also in the packet will be the invitation for Open House and our Family Night which is Thursday, July 24. It’s a fun way to get acquainted with teachers and families who attend during the school year.

You have been very patient with our road crew! I think they now know what a busy place Villa Teresa School is. However, to finish the road they will need from 8:00 a.m. – noon on Monday to close our front entrances. Please use the Dewey Street Gate by the garage apartments to walk your children into the school. For security reasons, we will only have the gate by the garage apartment open. There is parking across the street at our old kindergarten site at the corner of 13th and Dewey. The city apologizes for the inconvenience, but it’s the only way they can complete their project.

We still have uniforms at the front office – know you are welcome to come browse. After July 30, they will be moved back into the annex area and you can still purchase used uniforms from that area.

Please keep in your prayers, the Welch family who grieve the loss of their new-born baby.

I ask your prayers for my surgery Monday. Even though I may have some unbelievable expectations I hope to briefly peep in on the party Thursday evening. We will see. If not, know you are all in my prayers and in my heart.

God bless,

Sr. Veronica

Immersed in Christ (Sixteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time)

Let God Give Life Through You

INVENTORY: Do I ever get angry because people resist my efforts to help them, to minister to them? Do the apathy and resistance I see in people incline me to violence of word or action? How do I use whatever power I have?

INPUT: God does not use power against the slow and the sinful because he has all power. God is good and forgiving. Our prayer needs to be to ask God to “keep us watchful in prayer and true to his teaching” until we become like him.

INSIGHT: Do I see a connection between humility and patience? Humility and love?

INITIATIVE: When fear or impatience inclines you to push things or to use power, surrender all power to God and pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance. Give life by loving.
