Summer Thursday  Notes

July 3, 2008

Dear Families,

We are really having a beautiful summer! I am glad the rains have not disturbed too much our swimming schedule – our swimming teachers are doing a superb job! I’m writing this while on vacation – getting some extra rest and because everything is running so smoothly I decided to take the two weeks – more than I ever have taken before at one time! If you should have any concerns Tish and Sr. Joseph Marie are available and I most certainly am in contact daily and will address anything via e-mail.

If per chance any of you have not registered for the fall and plan to stay please do so as soon as possible. We have opened up another four year old class and believe it or not it is almost filled. This was an expansion I was not expecting  - God is good!

The students are having a great day care week. We are blessed to have Sr. Stephanie with us helping while Mrs. Payne is on a brief vacation.

Last week we were blessed with Mr. Centrella telling us about the culture of the Chinese people. The students raised excellent questions. We look forward to the presentation Mr. Hu will give next Friday. He is the father of Arthur and Anka. Next week’s theme is “New China”. Mark your calendar for July 24 – FAMILY NIGHT! It’s great fun – bring your picnic dinner and enjoy each other! There will be water balloons for the children.

Those of you entering at this point in LC 3, please make sure the mat you bring is a two inch mat – which can be found at Mardel’s and Lakeshore.

We welcome our new families and want you to know how much we value your presence among us.

I guess since the Archbishop is already telling some of our parents about my misfortune, I should include the rest of you. Your prayers are request for me. I met with a ‘mean’ choir bench the 7th of June and toppled over tearing tendons in my rotator cuff – in two places. Some people just do this to the nth degree. I will be having surgery on the 21st of July. Most of you know me as not being very brave when it comes to such things –so I ask for your prayers for the doctors and myself. Especially during recovery, it will take three months to play the organ again and perhaps maybe four weeks until I can play the guitar. The doctor says, “We’ll see.”

Please check your menu/calendar for next week’s menus.

IMMERSED IN CHRIST (The Focus of Ministry is God)

INPUT: God’s kindness is recognized in the obedience of Jesus through who death and resurrection God “raised a fallen world.” Based on this we look to God as one who will “free us from sin and bring us the joy that lasts forever.

Scripture: Zechariah 9:9-10; Romans 8:9-13; Matthew 11:25-30

INSIGHT: Have you experienced God’s “loving kindness”? Is this what draws you to him?

INITIATIVE: Try to detect how your milieu-at school, at work, in politics, even in family and social life – inclines you to achieve power and control through violence – of thought, word and action. Respond by looking at the heart of Christ.
