Summer Thursday Notes

June 19, 2008

Dear Families,

We have an announcement! The winner of the Orlando trip that was part of our auction in May is Deena and Jesse Teehee. Congratulations! I know they will have a great time!

Tomorrow the K-5th graders are going to be entertained by members of our Science Museum (Omniplex) on a presentation about ‘bugs’ – Grossology! This presentation costs each student attending $2.00.

The summer is going very fast! Lots of activities – arts and crafts’ projects have produced beautiful items. Chinese flags, maps, lanterns and the little images of the children to give their dads for Fathers’ Day have all been wonderful.

Some time you should come and watch the children swim. Our fantastic swim team does a great job of getting all the students to respond well in the water. It’s amazing to see little ones who are beginners become so comfortable in the water!

We hope to see all of you tomorrow as we begin our year-long celebration of our 75th anniversary. There are many events that would be fun for all ages. You won’t have to cook! The inflatables will arrive about 4:00 p.m. that’s going to be fun trying to keep the kids off until 5:30 P.M.  Pray for no rain! We still have a few slots, feel free to help where needed.

Next week we are having a guitar camp for students who may be interested (K-5th graders). This is conducted by Michael Fresonke who is our guitar teacher during the school year. The cost is $50 per student. Monday, Wednesday and Friday it is 9:00 A.M.on Tuesday and Thursday, it’s at 10:15 A.M.

Immersed in Christ (Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time)

Grounding Principles of Christian Ministry

INPUT: The key to ministry is union of mind and will and heart with God through Jesus Christ.

Scripture Readings:  Jeremiah 20:10-13; Romans 5:12-15; Matthew 10: 26-33

INSIGHT:  How do I feel now about ministering? What do I fear from it? What do I hope for from it? How am I expressing my faith, hope and love now? How might I acknowledge Christ more? Do I need to use words to do this?

INITIATIVE: Resolve to give life to others by expressing what is in your heart by grace.
